Ambition

Create your own argument: Whose ambition is driving this killing of Duncan, really? It is clear that neither character is telling Duncan or Banquo how they really feel, but do they tell one another?  Be sure to pick lines that show you both direct and indirect evidence for your argument.  

    So far, we all know that Lady Macbeth is driving the killing of King Duncan, since we know that Macbeth is already having some doubts about the whole plan. I believe that Lady Macbeth and Macbeth are hiding some details from each other. Especially, Lady Macbeth, she is hiding the fact that she wanted to be a male so that she could do her mission and take the throne. i think that once that she knows that Macbeth will take over the throne, she will probably kill her husband too. one of the quotes that shows this is the one when she says: "Come, you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, and fill me, from the crown to the toe, top-full of direst cruelty" Women in her society at that time wasn't much of a value and you had to be a man to accomplish what was great in people's eyes. Also, to do what she had to do, she wanted to become a man.

Questions

How do the right questions help you access text better? What difficulties did you find asking questions?

          To access a text better, you automatically have to ask questions. Since we are not familiar with this type of language, we have to ask questions to get it better. Sometimes, it is hard to know what kind of questions to ask that is the reason why you have to start with clarifying questions and go on to inferential and evaluative questions. it helped a lot for the reading of this text, to keep track of everything.

Do You Trust Me?

Duncan says, “There’s no art to find the mind’s construction in the face: / He was a gentleman on whom I built absolute trust.”

Discuss the issue of trust.  Is it ever possible to truly trust someone?  Be sure to cite evidence on both sides of the issue.  

• You cannot trust anybody. Nowadays, people in this society are backstabbers. They say that they are your friend and for a while they are. The problem is that when they get mad at you or they know that you did something wrong to them, everybody that you have said is used against you. Once you know, everybody knows your business.
• Sometimes, you can find someone that you trust. That is what friends are for! Yes, friends come and go, but some friends are just worth keeping. That don't mean that you have to start telling people your business, but you just have to look for the friends that are the most trustworthy.

Act or Not to Act

Discuss inaction. Is one less guilty of a crime if they let it happen but did not take an active role in it? Compare inaction to action---Are there levels of guilt?

           Yes, a person is as guilty if you knew something was happening but he/she did not stop it. For example, if somebody wanted to kill somebody but did not want to do all the dirty work, he would hire an hit man. He/she is still as guilty if they caught the murderer. I believe that there are levels of guilt. For instance, if someone robbed the bank and you were in there, I know I would not be the one interrupting this crime. So, i think it all depends on what the situation is.

Why do you think the author had Macbeth win, though he wrote Fortune seemed to favor Macdonwald?  What sort of man fights like Macbeth did? 

           I think that the author made Macbeth win, though he wrote that Fortune seemed to favor Macdonwald because first he is the main character. Then, Macbeth was more courageous, brave and humble to his king. The Fortune was probably for Macdonwald until he saw how Macbeth acted or fought, and he became on his side. The author could of also shown us how even though the ennemies might be against you, you will overcome the obstacles. An hero is the type of man that would fight like Macbeth

The Bloody Play---Which Witches?

Now that you have seen several versions of the witches, which version do you think is the best?

The old witches, the nurse witches, the girl witches, or the male witches?  Back up your argument with reasons and examples.

            Looking at the several versions of the witches, I liked the old witches better. I like it the best because I think it would be best if the characters looked like the way they usually do. The only thing I would probably change is how they present themselves. I want the witches to look old, but I want them to blind in into the crowd. This way nobody would know that they are really witches.

• Do predictions come true because they were destined to come true, or because people make them happen because it was predicted (like a self-fulfilling prophesy)?

            I believe that predictions do come true when people make them happen because somebody might say that i will become a billonaire some day but if i don't put  my hard work into it, it will never happen. some people might have the argument to say what if it was destined to become true. I say that if you don't have a fairy god parent, i don't think that it will happen. You work hard, you play hard.
